Neutrino parameters from matter effects in theνesurvival probability at long baselines
We show that the earth matter effects in the ${\ensuremath{\nu}}_{\mathrm{e}}$ survival probability can be used to cleanly determine the third leptonic mixing angle ${\ensuremath{\theta}}_{13}$ and the sign of the atmospheric neutrino mass squared difference, $\ensuremath{\Delta}{m}_{31}^{2}$, using a $\ensuremath{\beta}$-beam as a ${\ensuremath{\nu}}_{e}$ source.
