The PHENIX experiment at the Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider has measured the longitudinal double spin asymmetries, $A_{LL}$, for charged pions at midrapidity ($|η|&lt;0.35$) in longitudinally polarized $p$$+$$p$ collisions at $\sqrt{s}=510$ GeV.
