The transverse Meissner effect (TME) in the highly layered superconductor ${\mathrm{Bi}}_{2}{\mathrm{Sr}}_{2}{\mathrm{CaCu}}_{2}{\mathrm{O}}_{8+y}$ with columnar defects is investigated by transport measurements.
