Haydeeite: A spin-<mml:math xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML"><mml:mfrac><mml:mn>1</mml:mn><mml:mn>2</mml:mn></mml:mfrac></mml:math>kagome ferromagnet
The mineral haydeeite, $\ensuremath{\alpha}{\text{-MgCu}}_{3}{(\text{OD})}_{6}{\text{Cl}}_{2}$, is a $S=\frac{1}{2}$ kagome ferromagnet that displays long-range magnetic order below ${T}_{C}=4.2$ K with a strongly reduced moment. Our inelastic neutron scattering data show clear spin-wave excitations that are well described by a Heisenberg Hamiltonian with a ferromagnetic nearest-neighbor exchange ${J}_{1}=\ensuremath{-}38$ K and an antiferromagnetic exchange …
