Magnetic properties of single-crystalline CeCuGa<mml:math xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mml:msub><mml:mrow /><mml:mn>3</mml:mn></mml:msub></mml:math>
The magnetic behavior of single-crystalline CeCuGa${}_{3}$ has been investigated. The compound forms in a tetragonal BaAl${}_{4}$-type structure consisting of rare-earth planes separated by site-disordered Cu-Ga layers. If the Cu-Ga site disorder is reduced, CeCuGa${}_{3}$ adopts the related, likewise tetragonal, BaNiSn${}_{3}$-type structure, in which the inversion symmetry is lost. We report …
