The authors show that cuprate pseudogap physics can be well understood within the same spin-fermion model which yields $d$-wave superconductivity and non-Fermi-liquid physics in the normal state. Thus, the spin-fermion model re-emerges as a strong candidate for the theoretical model of the cuprates.
