Fractal Conductance Fluctuations in Gold Nanowires
Fractal Conductance Fluctuations in Gold Nanowires
A detailed analysis of magnetoconductance fluctuations of quasiballistic gold nanowires of various lengths is presented. We find that the variance $ใ(\ensuremath{\Delta}G{)}^{2}ใ\phantom{\rule{0ex}{0ex}}=\phantom{\rule{0ex}{0ex}}ใ[G(B)\ensuremath{-}G(B+\ensuremath{\Delta}B){]}^{2}ใ$ when analyzed for $\ensuremath{\Delta}B$ much smaller than the correlation field ${B}_{c}$ varies according to $ใ(\ensuremath{\Delta}G{)}^{2}ใ\ensuremath{\propto}\ensuremath{\Delta}{B}^{\ensuremath{\gamma}}$ with $\ensuremath{\gamma}<2$, indicating that the graph of $G$ vs $B$ is fractal.
