Phonon Instability with Respect to Soliton Formation in Two-Dimensional Dipolar Bose-Einstein Condensates
The partially attractive character of the dipole-dipole interaction leads to phonon instability in dipolar condensates, which is followed by collapse in three-dimensional geometries.
