Recent measurements of the cosmic microwave background (CMB) anisotropies by Planck provide a sensitive probe of dark matter annihilation during the cosmic dark ages, and specifically constrain the annihilation parameter ${f}_{\mathrm{eff}}⟨\ensuremath{\sigma}v⟩/{m}_{\ensuremath{\chi}}$.
