The Spectrum and Pseudospectrum of Non-self Adjoint Pseudodifferential Operators

Abstract

We study the spectrum of relatively compact, non-self adjoint perturbations of self adjoint operators, with the formal properties of pseudodifferential operators.When the self adjoint operator is elliptic, we obtain an estimate for the location of the spectrum in complex plane, which provides a quantitative improvement of classical results of Keldys, Gohberg and Krein.
