This paper demonstrates how a variational-iterative scheme based on complementary variational principles can be applied to solve non-linear partial differential equations. The test example chosen is the steady-state version of Burgers' equation. The results are compared with the exact analytic solution and an indication of the accuracy of the variational approximations is obtained by computing measures of error.
