of the present paper. 1 * This concept appeared first, applied to the special case of algebraic correspondences, in Seven's paper in the Torino Memorie, vol.54 (1904).Needless to say, Seven did not suspect the analysis situs aspect of the problem, hence did not and could not derive the Hurwitz coincidence formulas.
