The techniques proposed here yield 'path diagrams' that are somewhat analogous to those used in path analysis. Earlier path analysis models are not suited to the case where the variables are polytomous, or dichotomous, but the models proposed herein are. For each of our models, methods are presented for (a) testing whether the model fits the data, (b) partitioning the test statistic into components that can be used to test submodels within the overall model, and (c) estimating the parameters in the model. An illustrative application is also included.

An analytic hierarchy process model is developed and presented, allowing decision makers to couple performance evaluation and academic reward/awards and recognitions offered by institutions of higher education, and provides an objective way to compare faculty members. Weights are provided for each of the criteria in the evaluation process for a more objective outcome. Reward/award systems might include promotion decisions, merit pay, tenure, long‐term contracts, and annual reward/awards of excellence in research, teaching or service. The model might be used to make judgment on the qualification of candidates for such systems, and could be used on the department level, college level, or university‐wide level. In addition, the model could rank faculty members within each discipline or major. An illustrative example is provided of the model at the United Arab Emirates University.

This requires the estimation of building cost based on historic cost data that is updated by a forecasted Tender Price Index (TPI), with the reliability of the estimates depending significantly on accurate projections being obtained of the TPI for the forthcoming quarters. In practice, the prediction of construction tender price index movement entails a judgemental projection of future market conditions, including inflation. Statistical techniques such as Regression Analysis (RA) and Time Series (TS) modelling provide a powerful means of improving predictive accuracy when used individually. An integrated RA‐TS model is developed and its predictive power compared with the individual RA or TS models. The accuracy of the RA‐TS model is shown to outperform the individual RA and TS models in both one and two‐period forecasts, with the integrated RA‐TS model accurately predicting (95% confidence level) one‐quarter forecasts for all the 34 holdout periods involved, with only one period not meeting the confidence limit for two‐quarter forecasts. Hence, identification of common minimum quality items suitable to all stakeholders will help to design the system and thereby improve customer satisfaction. To address this issue, a measuring instrument known as EduQUAL is developed and an integrative approach using neural networks for evaluating service quality is proposed. The dimensionality of EduQUAL is validated by factor analysis followed by varimax rotation. Four neural network models based on back-propagation algorithm are employed to predict quality in education for different stakeholders. This study demonstrated that the P-E gap model is found to be the best model for all the stakeholders. Sensitivity analysis of the best model for each stakeholder was carried out to appraise the robustness of the model. Finally, areas of improvement were suggested to the administrators of the institutions.

The information is presented in terms of risk refinement, intensity probability and success probability. After the event the relative likelihood that a prediction was a success or failure can be estimated. Comparisons can also be made of the performance of different forecasting models. The application of these methods is illustrated by an example based on the proposed swarm-magnitude predictor.

It is very difficult to meet the consistency requirement of a comparison matrix (CM) in AHP. The authors analyze the reasons for inconsistent CM in AHP and propose an improved AHP (IAHP) to improve CM consistency by using a sorting and ranking methodology. The results of comparing AHP with IAHP by MATLAB simulation show that IAHP is more suitable for solving MCDM problems when the number of elements or factors is 5 or more in MCDM. A case study is presented to illustrate the performance of IAHP when applied to risk identification during an open-cut subway construction. The application results show that IAHP is superior to AHP in terms of CM consistency, information extraction effectiveness, and convenience in practical implementation.

In order to effectively optimise, this paper constructs the evaluation index system, sorts out 7 important evaluation indexes. A method is proposed on the basis of the TOPSIS method and Grey Correlation Analysis (GRA), which is a decision-making method combining static distance and dynamic trend, and make the evaluation results more reasonable. In addition, in order to reflect the true weight of the high dimensional index, the evaluation model of projection pursuit index is established. The improved Particle Swarm Optimisation (PSO) algorithm is used to optimise the projection index function and model parameters, and to obtain the objective weights of evaluation indexes. Then the objective weights combine with the subjective weights obtained by the Analytic hierarchy process (AHP), which makes the weights of the evaluation indexes achieve the unity of subjective and objective. Finally, 20 sets of simulation examples are given to illustrate the feasibility and effectiveness of the proposed method.

The method uses two standard procedures: (a) hierarchical grouping, which is one of a variety of clustering techniques, and (b) Scheffe's S-method of multiple group comparisons. The proposed method has several advantages over existing grouping methods, which are largely subjective and manual in nature. The new method is simple, objective, computer-oriented, and statistically credible. In addition, application of the method to Alberta's traffic-counter data indicates that the method is rational for such considerations as trip purpose and trip-length distribution. It is believed that this technique can lead highway agencies to a better understanding of the functional classification of their road systems and help them to develop improved seasonal expansion procedures for estimating average annual daily traffic from sample traffic counts. Finally, the new method has implications for a standard functional classification of roads on a provincial and natioal basis. It is hoped that such a classification can lead to an overall consistency in the planning and design of roads for both safety and economy purposes. (Author)

Pay and employee perks (monetary rewards) are not the primary aspects of reward management. Non-monetary benefits like recognition, training, development, and more responsibility at work are as important to it. This study evaluated the incentive management strategies utilized by Commercial Bank of Ethiopia with an emphasis on employee perceptions in an effort to evaluate the strategies currently employed by the organization to recruit and retain staff. The descriptive research method was applied in order to achieve this. Based on the goals, questionnaires, unstructured interviews, and document reviews were created. Analysis is up. Cluster sampling was utilized in the study to send 99 questionnaires to CBE employees, all of whom lied and returned them. The completed survey was processed and examined using textual summaries, tables, graphs, and pie charts. The study's conclusions demonstrated the use of reward management systems. Responses were gathered based on respondents' evaluations of the bank's overall incentive management procedures as well as equity, transparency, consistency, and alignments. The Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) was used to examine the data. Financial incentives make up the majority of the company's reward program. Additionally, the data indicate that the respondents considered the company's compensation system was unfair and unjust. When workers perform better, they prefer to be asked what they need most. The organizational culture of the corporation is similar to that of a restrictive organization. Last but not least, a lack of prior experience in conducting systematic research, a lack of awareness in our society to distribute questionnaires carefully and return them on time, and the lack of previous works on the topic in the Ethiopian context will all have an impact on the study's findings and necessitate the involvement of additional researchers to demonstrate the study's reliability.

Traditional technology is difficult to adapt to the exploration and unknown construction process of railway engineering in complex and difficult areas. Therefore, there is an urgent need for technological innovation. The study used the Vague set theory method to screen and determine a list of risk factors for railway engineering technology innovation in complex areas, including 5 primary risk indicators and 26 secondary risk indicators. Based on this, an evaluation system for risk factors of railway engineering technology innovation in complex areas was established. Secondly, this study combined the Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) and Entropy Weight Method (EWM) with a cloud model to comprehensively evaluate risks and create cloud maps. Based on the calculation results, the risk level of railway engineering technology innovation risk factors in complex areas is obtained as environmental factors > technological factors > social factors > management factors > resource factors. The “combination weighting-cloud model” framework adopted in this study effectively overcomes the problem of insufficient representation of traditional single weighting method by integrating subjective and objective weight optimization and dynamic risk coupling analysis and significantly improves the multidimensional adaptability and dynamic evaluation accuracy.

To prevent the occurrence of safety accidents, a comprehensive analysis and evaluation model was constructed by combining the Analytic Hierarchy Process(AHP) and Extenics. Firstly, the AHP was used to establish a multi-level risk assessment index system, and then assign weights to each risk factor effectively. After that, according to the theory of improved Extenics, the correlation function was used to determine the risk level of each risk factor and identify the main risk factors that lead to accidents, based on the results of AHP. Finally, a specific solid propellant truing process was used as an example for risk assessment to verify the effectiveness of this model, and then the safety level of this process was concluded to be three. This result demonstrated that the model can effectively evaluate the risk of the solid propellant truing process, provide a new assessment method for the solid propellant truing process and help ensure production safety.

The fuzzy Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) is used in this study to discover, classify, and rank delay causes as it relates to contractor-induced delays. Seventy components were first discovered and categorized into six groups: finance, project management, materials, equipment, external factors, and manpower. This was done using a thorough process that included literature reviews, case studies, expert interviews, and surveys. Financial considerations have the highest weight (0.36743), followed by project management (0.23959) and material-related factors (0.1601), according to the fuzzy AHP model. The results highlight how important it is to deal with payment delays and to mitigate them through efficient project planning, material procurement, and equipment maintenance. This study offers a thorough framework for comprehending and controlling delays caused by contractors, along with useful suggestions to enhance efficiency and reduce risks.

Traditional deterministic methods often fail to capture inherent variability in resource usage, resulting in significant discrepancies between budget estimates and actual costs. To address this issue for a specific device, this study develops a probabilistic framework based on Monte Carlo simulation, using manual barrier gate installation as a case study. First, probability distribution models for key parameters were established by collecting and statistically analyzing field data. Next, Monte Carlo simulation generated 100,000 pseudo-observations, yielding mean labor consumption of 1.08 workdays (SD 0.29), expansion bolt usage of 6.02 sets (SD 0.97), and equipment shifts of 0.20 (SD 0.10). Comparison with the “Highway Engineering Budget Standards” (JTG/T 3832-2018) revealed deviations of 1% to 4%, and comparison with market bid prices showed errors below 2%. These results demonstrate that the proposed method accurately captures dynamic fluctuations in resource consumption, aligning with both national norms and actual tender data. In conclusion, the framework offers a robust and adaptable tool for cost estimation and resource allocation in highway electromechanical projects, enhancing budgeting accuracy and reducing the risk of cost overruns.

However, the long period of rail transit construction, large-scale investment, and its planning involve a variety of factors, which require scientific and reasonable evaluation methods to ensure that its construction can realize the expected economic and social benefits. To solve this problem, this study first establishes an appropriate evaluation system by selecting suitable evaluation indicators. Then, the comprehensive assignment method combining the ordinal relationship method (G1 method) and the improved entropy weight method is applied to assign weights to the indicators in the evaluation system, and the correlation degree is calculated by combining with the matter-element model for evaluating the planning scheme of the urban rail transit system. Finally, the urban rail transit system planning scheme of Zhengzhou City is verified by example. The results show that the proposed method can balance the practical significance and dynamics of the evaluation indices, evaluate the importance of each index more objectively, and provide methodological support for dynamic decision-making in rail transportation planning in the context of a smart city, which is of guiding significance for the sustainable development of the city.

Traditional supply chain finance models, relying on core enterprise credit, fail to address the dynamic nature of this sector. This study proposes a novel approach to value co-creation among stakeholders (core enterprises, suppliers, and financial institutions) through an evolutionary game theory framework. A stochastic model was developed to examine the strategic decisions of these parties, considering risk, penalty, and incentive coefficients. The results reveal that higher incentives encourage faster participation, while financial institutions are less sensitive to risk and penalty changes. This study provides new insights into promoting cooperative behavior and enhancing the sustainability of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in the construction industry through platform-based models.

However, conventional methods for risk identification heavily rely on experience from experts and fail to effectively identify the relationship between risk factors and events embedded in accident texts, which fail to provide substantial guidance for subway safety risks management. With a dataset comprising 562 occurrences of subway construction accidents, this study devised a domain-specific entity recognition model for identifying safety hazards during the subway construction. The model was constructed by a Bidirectional Long Short-Term Memory Network with Conditional Random Fields (BiLSTM-CRF). Additionally, a domain-specific entity causal relation extraction model employing Convolutional Neural Networks (CNN) was also developed in thsi model. The constructed models automatically extract safety risk factors, safety events, and their causal relationships from the texts about subway accidents. The precision, recall, and F1 scores of Metro Construction Safety Risk Named Entity Recognition Model (MCSR-NER-Model) all exceeded 77%. Its performance in the specialized domain named entity recognition (NER) with a limited volume of textual data is satisfactory. The Metro Construction Safety Risk Domain Entity Causal Relationship Extraction Model (MCSR-CE-Model) achieved an impressive accuracy, recall, and F1 score of 98.96%, exhibiting excellent performance. Moreover, the extracted entities were normalized and domain dictionary was developed. Based on the processed entities and relationships processed by the domain dictionary, 533 domain entity causal relation triplets were obtained, facilitating the establishment of the directed and unweighted complex network and case database about the risks of subway construction. This research successfully converted accident texts into a causal chain structure of "safety risk factors to risk events," providing detailed categorization of safety risks and events. Concurrently, it revealed the interrelationships and historical statistical patterns among various safety risk factors and categories of risk events through the complex safety risks network. The construction of the database facilitated project managers in conducting management decisions about safety risks.

Evaluating this quality enables quantification of service performance, identification of deficiencies in key indicators (delivery timeliness, safety, and service attitude), and optimization of operational efficiency. Such assessment helps standardize courier behavior, enhance user satisfaction, and strengthen platform competitiveness. This study proposes an enhanced decision-making method for assessing CLP service quality under uncertainty using spherical cubic fuzzy (SCF) sets, which effectively capture fuzzy and uncertain information. We develop an SCF-based approach integrating Renyi entropy and the WASPAS method, featuring four key contributions: (1) definition of SCF Aczel-Alsina operations and four corresponding aggregation operators (weighted averaging, geometric, ordered weighted averaging, and ordered weighted geometric); (2) development of an SCF-Renyi entropy weight method using score functions to determine criteria weights; (3) improvement of the WASPAS method through SCF Aczel-Alsina operators; and (4) validation through a supplier selection case study demonstrating the method's applicability. Sensitivity analysis confirms the approach's stability and universality in handling multi-criteria decision analysis problems.

Using a dataset combining psychological measurements from 2,156 investors with market data from 148 listed real estate companies, we examine how monetary policy and market structure shape the transmission of emotional effects. Through empirical analysis integrating emotional psychology and behavioral finance theories, we identify three key mechanisms: (1) monetary policy environment significantly moderates emotional transmission in the market, with loose policy periods amplifying sentiment effects; (2) market structure and investor composition determine the strength of emotional contagion, showing stronger effects in retail-dominated markets; (3) social networks and institutional arrangements systematically influence how individual emotions aggregate into market-wide sentiment. Our results demonstrate that the impact of investor emotions varies substantially with macroeconomic conditions and market structure, revealing the crucial role of policy environment and institutional framework in emotional transmission. These findings provide insights for maintaining market stability through coordinated management of monetary policy, market structure, and collective sentiment.

The campus safety culture evaluation index system employs the ordinal relationship analysis method (G1 method) and the anti-entropy weight method to determine the subjective and objective weights of the indicators, respectively. Additionally, game theory is utilized to compute the comprehensive weights of these indicators. Ultimately, the established comprehensive evaluation model of campus safety culture, founded on game theory and regret theory, was applied to assess the safety culture at universities in Ganzhou. The results show that this evaluation model is suitable for campus safety culture evaluation and provides feasible paths for for such evaluations.

This paper looks at the application of Markov chains in the field of transportation, focusing on their ability to model complex and dynamic traffic systems. Three Markov-based models are discussed: homogeneous Markov chains, Grey Markov chains, and Markov-based queueing models. Based on these three models, this paper provided the relevant applications, including pedestrian crash prediction, urban rail passenger flow forecasting, and bus stop zone length optimization. It is shown by the results that Markov chains are effective in these models. To elaborate, homogeneous Markov chains help identify high-risk areas for pedestrian crashes, which provides a targeted measurement for the traffic management departments. On the other hand, GM-Markov models improve the accuracy of passenger flow forecasting. Moreover, queueing models optimize bus stop efficiency, making transportation systems more reliable. These findings show that using Markov chains in transportation could lead to a better traffic system. As a result, cities can manage their transportation networks more effectively.

This method leverages an improved sparrow search algorithm (ISSA) to optimize the variational mode decomposition (VMD) method and employs an improved multiscale sample entropy (IMSE) for fault feature extraction. Initially, the ISSA algorithm optimizes two critical parameters of the VMD method: the number of modes $$K$$ K and the penalty factor $$\alpha$$ α , to obtain the optimal parameter combination $$[K$$ [ K , $$\alpha$$ α ]. The optimized VMD method is then used to decompose the bearing vibration signals for signal reconstruction analysis. Subsequently, the IMSE entropy algorithm is applied to the reconstructed signals to extract fault features, resulting in the required fault feature vector set. Finally, this extracted fault feature vector set is input into a multi-kernel extreme learning machine model for fault classification and diagnosis. The results show that the identification accuracy of the fault diagnosis of reciprocating compressor plain bearings and automobile rolling bearings is significantly improved, and the method has better fault feature extraction effect.
