Using data from previous editions, plus 3,283 new measurements from 899 Japers, we list, evaluate, and average measured properties of gauge bosons and the recently discovered Higgs boson, leptons, quarks, mesons, and baryons. We summarize searches for hypothetical particles such as heavy neutrinos, supersymmetric and technicolor particles, axions, dark photons, etc. All the particle properties and search limits are listed in Summary Tables. We also give numerous tables, figures, formulae, and reviews of topics such as Supersymmetry, Extra Dimensions, Particle Detectors, Probability, and Statistics. Among the 112 reviews are many that are new or heavily revised including those on: Dark Energy, Higgs Boson Physics, Electroweak Model, Neutrino Cross Section Measurements, Monte Carlo Neutrino Generators, Top Quark, Dark Matter, Dynamical Electroweak Symmetry Breaking, Accelerator Physics of Colliders, High-Energy Collider Parameters, Big Bang Nucleosynthesis, Astrophysical Constants and Cosmological Parameters.

This complicated behavior is known as chaos. In the new edition of this classic textbook Edward Ott has added much new material and has significantly increased the number of homework problems. The most important change is the addition of a completely new chapter on control and synchronization of chaos. Other changes include new material on riddled basins of attraction, phase locking of globally coupled oscillators, fractal aspects of fluid advection by Lagrangian chaotic flows, magnetic dynamos, and strange nonchaotic attractors. This new edition will be of interest to advanced undergraduates and graduate students in science, engineering, and mathematics taking courses in chaotic dynamics, as well as to researchers in the subject.

These concepts are then related to a variety of geological and geophysical problems, illustrating just what chaos theory and fractals really tell us and how they can be applied to the earth sciences. Petroleum and mineral reserves, earthquakes, mantle convection and magnetic field generation are among the earth's properties that come under scrutiny. This is the first book that covers these topics at an accessible level; the concepts are introduced at the lowest possible level of mathematics and are consistently understandable, so that the reader requires only a background in basic physics and mathematics. Problems are also included for the reader to solve.

Here we report on the scripting part, which features interactive data analysis and component-based assembly of data mining procedures. In the selection and design of components, we focus on the flexibility of their reuse: our principal intention is to let the user write simple and clear scripts in Python, which build upon C++ implementations of computationally-intensive tasks. Orange is intended both for experienced users and programmers, as well as for students of data mining.

Robert Beyer's 1955 English translation, which von Neumann reviewed and approved, is cited more frequently today than ever before. But its many treasures and insights were too often obscured by the limitations of the way the text and equations were set on the page. This new edition of this classic work has been completely reset in TeX, making the text and equations far easier to read. The book has also seen the correction of a handful of typographic errors, revision of some sentences for clarity and readability, provision of an index for the first time, and prefatory remarks drawn from the writings of Léon Van Hove and Freeman Dyson have been added. The result brings new life to an essential work in theoretical physics and mathematics.

We then introduce GPT-3, a third-generation, autoregressive language model that uses deep learning to produce human-like texts, and use the previous distinction to analyse it. We expand the analysis to present three tests based on mathematical, semantic (that is, the Turing Test), and ethical questions and show that GPT-3 is not designed to pass any of them. This is a reminder that GPT-3 does not do what it is not supposed to do, and that any interpretation of GPT-3 as the beginning of the emergence of a general form of artificial intelligence is merely uninformed science fiction. We conclude by outlining some of the significant consequences of the industrialisation of automatic and cheap production of good, semantic artefacts.

This paper aims to inform researchers and practitioners in radioglaciology about current and future trends in mapping the englacial stratigraphy of ice sheets. Radio-echo sounding (RES) is a useful technique for measuring the subsurface properties of ice sheets and glaciers. One of the most important and unique outcomes is the mapping of ice sheets' englacial layer stratigraphy, mainly consisting of isochronous reflection horizons. Mapping those is still a labor-intensive task. This review provides an overview of state-of-the-art (semi-)automated methods for identifying ice surface, basal, and internal reflection horizons from radargrams in radioglaciology. Methods for segmenting (and detecting) different regions of radargrams are also included due to their data and methodological similarity to methods tracing internal reflection horizons. We discuss a variety of methods which have been developed or applied to RES data over the last few decades, including image processing, statistical techniques, and deep learning approaches. For each approach, we briefly summarize their procedures, challenges, and potential applications. Despite major advances, we conclude that gaps remain in effectively mapping internal reflection horizons in an automated way but with deep learning representing a potential advancement.

Firstly, the paper introduces a brief history of the problem under consideration and presents the main results of the previous studies, which ultimately lead to the study of the product of independent random matrices with an increasing number of multiplicands. After that, the description of the Markov linear model considered in the paper is given, the so-called Lyapunov (generally speaking, random) bases for the multiplicative (stochastic) integral contained in the integral representation of the magnetic field are constructed. In conclusion, by decomposing the multiplicative integral over the constructed Lyapunov basis and relying on the properties of the basis, the main results - theorems on the asymptotic behavior of the magnetic field and magnetic energy - have been proven.

This paper considers the question of its dimensionality, D, in biological information as the helical coil goes through recursive coiling as in DNA and RNA molecules in chromatin, in which the D-value is a function of the lengthening of the curve. It is shown that the dimensionality of coiled coils is virtually equal to e. Of the three forms of DNA, the dimensionality of the B-form is nearest to the optimal value, and this might be the reason why it is most common.

This work examines the … In today’s world, safely transferring data is very important which means how cryptographic algorithms behave in different programming languages matters a lot to those designing systems. This work examines the results of key cryptographic activities using Python, Java and C#—specifically, AES encryption, RSA key generation and SHA-256 hashing. Using standard ways to test benchmarks, the project measures the Execution Speed, Memory usage and Performance of all languages in handling cryptography. The analysis highlights those choices for language paradigm, type of runtime, approach to memory management and level of maturity in cryptographic libraries account for most of the variation among these frameworks. Python is quick to use in development, but Java offers a more balanced way and steadier speed according to the JCE. Compared to Java, C# shows better efficiency and is better suited for use on a tight budget. With the input from this study, programmers have better guidance in deciding which languages to use for high-performance programs.

By doing so I explain baryon and lepton number conservation as an effect of the electric-magnetic duality and the U(1)×U(1) gauge symmetry of quantum electromagnetodynamics. By using this method I predict the quantum numbers of an octet of magnetic monopoles. Another surprising result is that both leptons and quarks have nonzero magnetic isospin, a new quantum number.
