Although ecotourism may be a valuable tool for preservation of biodiversity, it can have long-term negative effects on reserves, wildlife and local communities if improperly managed. In this study the authors evaluated ecotourism in the Tangkoko DuaSudara Nature Reserve, North Sulawesi, by examining trends in visitor numbers, the tourist experience, the distribution of tourist revenues, and tourist impact on the Sulawesi black macaque Macaca nigra and spectral tarsier Tarsier spectrum. The data collected showed that, although tourism is expanding rapidly, local benefits are not being fully realized, the reserve does not generate enough money to implement management, and primate behaviour is being affected. There is urgent need for a change in legal status of the reserve if ecotourism is to be managed. National park status would accommodate ecotourism planning and development, provide for greater participation by the local community, and allow for increased revenues for management .

These cooperative planning principles are examined in the context of Yogyakarta, Indonesia, where it was found that they are not a part of the planning practices already in place. Sociopolitical factors are considered the most important reasons for the lack of cooperative tourism planning in the study area and it is believed that other developing destinations with similar human environmental conditions would also be lacking in the use of cooperative planning principles.

Until 2030, … The stipulation of the Palopo City Regional Tourism Development Master Plan 2021 – 2025 makes the Palopo City tourism sector quite optimistic after the beginning of the pandemic. Until 2030, Palopo City targets 250,000 domestic tourists and 1800 foreign tourists. The tourism potential of Palopo City, especially in urban areas is quite promising with the construction of a culinary center and souvenirs, public space activities, and the development of culinary businesses. These potentials must be supported by adequate facilities and infrastructure, including accessibility. Meanwhile, public transportation in Palopo City is considered inadequate and not integrated with each other. The concept of Palopo City Tourism offers the integration of tourism activities in the urban areas of the city of Palopo by providing integrated tourism transportation modes, equipped with supporting infrastructure such as bus stops. However, the implementation of the concept will be constrained by funding problems given the limited regional finances and the demand to prioritize sectors that are more strategic than tourism. This paper will see how the implementation of the PPP scheme in the tourism sector, especially in the transportation aspect, namely in the concept of Palopo City Tourism, both in development, operation and potential benefits. From the results of the analysis of movement patterns and the location of tourist objects, 3 optimal routes were chosen that could accommodate the movement of tourists, namely the southern route, western route and northern route. From the results of the analysis of infrastructure needs, it is necessary to develop infrastructure in the form of shelters and pedestrian paths and their accessories at tourist attraction points and several commercial areas. In addition, several PPP financing schemes are also proposed which are considered suitable for the City Tour Palopo concept, including Concessions and Affermage/Lease schemes, such as Service Contracts and Management Contracts, Design-Build-Finance-Operate/Maintain (DBFO, DBFM or DBFO). /M), Build-Own-Lease-Transfer (BOLT).

The development of tourism areas is carried out through an integrated transformation of various natural and biological opportunities and assets. All of this requires the ability of the human resources in it. Therefore, this community service program is very much needed to optimize the Timpik Village Pokadarwis in increasing its potential as a tourist village area. Timpik Village is the largest village in Susukan District with beautiful natural panoramas of rice fields and hills with fertile soil types. In addition to potential natural resources, there are also human resources who have a high spirit to advance their village. The various cultures and arts that already exist add their own local wisdom value with the formation of the Tourism Awareness Group (Pokdarwis). However, behind all that, Pokdarwis has not been able to develop the existing tourism potential. Therefore, various mentoring actions are needed in creating a profile of the arts and culture owned by Timpik Village as local wisdom, optimizing the management of village social media, optimizing the use of tourist attractions, and developing the results and marketing of Timpik Village UMKM products.

While the conservation of cultural assets has traditionally been viewed through a preservationist lens, this study adopts a qualitative approach to examine how these spaces are creatively revitalized into experiential venues that appeal to modern urban tourists. By employing descriptive case studies of six iconic CHBs—Pos Bloc, Sarinah, Paser Baroe, Gedung Kesenian Jakarta, Monumen Nasional, and Museum Nasional Jakarta—this research analyzes how sensory, emotional, cognitive, behavioral, and relational experiences are co-constructed through strategic reuse and experiential marketing. Data were collected through site observations, expert documentations, and interpretive analysis of urban narratives. Findings show that the unique combination of historical ambiance, commercial adaptation, and cultural storytelling creates a multidimensional experience that goes beyond visual aesthetics. Jakarta’s approach demonstrates how CHBs can serve both as heritage anchors and platforms for innovative urban cultural expression. The study concludes with recommendations for urban tourism developers and heritage managers to align cultural sustainability with tourism innovation.

Data collection through observation, interviews, and literature study … This research aims to explore the potential for developing Tengkudak village as a tourist village from the perspective of the local community. Data collection through observation, interviews, and literature study using quantitative descriptive analysis. The sample was determined as 100 people through proportional random sampling. Informants were selected from the community who understood the existence of the village through proportional random sampling. The research results show that the local community basically strongly agrees with developing this village as a tourist village, with a score of 4.11 (agreeing to develop it into a tourist village). To be able to maximize the development of the tourist village, it is necessary to involve pentahelic actors (government, academics, tourism actors, the media, and local communities) in the development of the tourist village. The government is only limited to facilitating, and local communities are the main actors in developing tourist villages, so they can better understand natural and cultural phenomena, as a determinant of the quality of tourism products owned by the village. This can certainly foster a common perception of all Pentahelix actors and provide the widest possible space for local communities as the main actors in developing tourist villages.

Employing a quantitative descriptive approach, the research was conducted over the period of February to March 2023. Primary data were gathered directly from visitors and analyzed using multiple linear regression with the support of SPSS software. The findings reveal that travel cost and distance have a negative and statistically significant effect on the number of visits, indicating that higher expenses and longer distances discourage tourists from visiting. In contrast, income has a positive and significant effect, suggesting that individuals with higher income levels are more likely to visit the destination. The age variable, however, shows no significant effect, indicating that tourist age does not substantially influence their decision to visit Bukit Lubang Kilat. Despite age being insignificant individually, the simultaneous test results indicate that travel costs, income, distance, and age collectively have a significant influence on tourist visit numbers. These results emphasize the importance of economic and geographical considerations in tourism planning, especially in remote or rural areas. To enhance tourist attraction to Bukit Lubang Kilat, local governments and tourism managers should focus on reducing travel-related burdens by improving access, infrastructure, and offering incentives. Additionally, marketing strategies should target higher-income tourists while ensuring affordability and accessibility for broader segments. This research contributes to understanding the determinants of tourist behavior in rural tourism contexts and supports evidence-based policy for sustainable tourism development.

This study examines the implementation of tourism village development policy in Cikolelet Village, which is based on Village Regulation No. 5 of 2017. Although the policy has been implemented optimally, the development of the tourism village has stagnated. Identified issues include declining tourist visits, limited accessibility and connectivity, and weak promotion and marketing of village-owned tourism assets. The research aims to explore the causes of stagnation using O. Jones’s policy implementation theory, which includes organizational, interpretive, and application dimensions. A qualitative descriptive method was used, involving key informants such as village government officials, leaders and secretaries of the tourism awareness group (Pokdarwis), BUMDes leaders, and local community members. The results indicate that the organizational aspect is functioning well, evidenced by the establishment of Pokdarwis and BUMDes institutions. However, major obstacles include lack of synergy among stakeholders and limited human resource capacity and capability. Moreover, local managers and residents are still unfamiliar with core tourism principles like Sapta Pesona and the tourism village concept. This study aims to assess the resource suitability level and evaluate visitor perceptions in the Bahowo mangrove ecotourism area, Manado City. Primary data were collected through field surveys using the Tourism Suitability Index (IKW) and perception questionnaires based on a Likert scale. Five ecological parameters were analysed to obtain the IKW score, while six visitor perception aspects were evaluated to assess satisfaction and revisit intention. The results revealed an IKW score of 1.84, classified as "not suitable", primarily due to limited mangrove width (79 m) and low vegetation density (11 ind/100 m²). Although tidal range and biodiversity parameters scored high, their contribution was insufficient to improve the overall suitability classification. Visitor perceptions indicated satisfaction with visual aesthetics, but evaluations of facilities, educational value, and revisit intention were notably low. The ecological unsuitability and poor tourism service quality indicate that Bahowo is currently not ideal for sustainable ecotourism. The study recommends ecosystem improvement through mangrove rehabilitation and enhancement of interpretive infrastructure as prerequisites for developing an adaptive and sustainability-oriented ecotourism area.

The increasing number of visitors has directly impacted the hospitality industry, resulting in a wide variety of hotels with diverse characteristics based on price, rating, and customer reviews. This diversity poses a challenge in effectively understanding hotel market segmentation. This study aims to cluster hotels in Lombok using clustering techniques to gain deeper insights into hotel segmentation patterns. The research employs the K-Means Clustering algorithm within the CRISP-DM framework, which includes the phases of Business Understanding, Data Understanding, Data Preparation, Modeling, Evaluation, and Deployment. The dataset comprises attributes such as nightly price, hotel rating, and the number of reviews, all collected from online platforms. The effectiveness of the clustering process is evaluated using the Silhouette Score metric. The results show that the K-Means algorithm delivers the best performance, with a Silhouette Score of 0.9042 (90%), indicating well-defined and distinct clusters. Therefore, K-Means Clustering is recommended as the most effective method for grouping hotels based on the attributes used in this study. This research provides valuable insights into hotel segmentation patterns in Lombok and can serve as a reference for hospitality industry stakeholders in formulating more targeted marketing strategies and business decisions. Future research may consider incorporating additional attributes such as geographic location and tourist seasons to enhance the clustering quality.

Educational tourism is defined as a form of travel that focuses not only on leisure but also on learning, cultural preservation, and the empowerment of local economies. The method used in this research is a literature review, with content analysis of three selected academic articles and a strategic mapping based on strategic management theory and national tourism development policies. The findings indicate that each region applies a different approach to developing educational tourism, yet all emphasize the importance of collaboration between local governments, communities, and the private sector. In Bojonegoro , the development strategy struggles at the implementation and evaluation stages; in Kediri, a step-by-step and comprehensive model is evident; whereas in Blitar , adaptive strategies and creative promotion serve as key drivers for post-pandemic recovery. The success of educational tourism management is strongly influenced by the utilization of local assets, targeted digital promotion, institutional strengthening (such as community-based tourism groups), and continuous evaluation and innovation. This study is expected to contribute both practically and theoretically to the development of educational tourism in Indonesia. It also emphasizes that strategic management in educational tourism must be dynamic, locally grounded, and capable of addressing socio-economic challenges in a contextual and sustainable manner.
