James Alexander Green (often cited simply as “James Green”) was a British mathematician (1926–2014) best known for his pioneering work in the representation theory of finite groups. Among his notable contributions were the introduction of what became known as “Green’s polynomials.” He spent much of his career at the University of Warwick and received several honors, including the London Mathematical Society’s De Morgan Medal in 2001.
