Tom M. Apostol (1923–2016) was an American mathematician and professor at the California Institute of Technology known for his contributions to analytic number theory and for authoring influential mathematics textbooks. His two-volume “Calculus” and his text “Mathematical Analysis” are widely used in undergraduate and graduate courses around the world. Apostol was also involved in mathematics education outreach, directing the video project “Project MATHEMATICS!” to help students learn and appreciate mathematical concepts.
